The California Institute of Technology’s (Caltech) research effort is in collaboration with a subteam of the Metal Hydride Center of Excellence that will concentrate on the synthesis and characterization of thermodynamically tuned, nanophase light metal hydrides for reversible hydrogen storage.
In addition to addressing the thermodynamic barriers posed by typical light metal hydride systems, Caltech intends to further explore the role of nanoscale dimensions in hydrides by addressing both size-dependent kinetic and thermodynamic enhancements to hydride formation and cycling.
