June 7, 2000 Radiation Model for CO2 and H20:
The original curve fit for the Planck mean absorption coefficient
for CO2, under Radiation Model, fit.
The problem apparently was that the coefficients for the
original fit were reported with 5-digit precision, which was not
sufficient to reproduce the fit. The consequence was a 20-25% overprediction
of aP,CO2 relative to RADCAL values. The effect is
not so large as to alter any qualitative conclusions regarding
the comparison
of previous calculations and measured results for temperature or
NO. Laminar flame calculations by J-Y Chen show only a few percent
difference in NO results using the old and new fit for CO2.
This suggests that errors in turbulent flame calculations attributable
to the old fit would be small compared to uncertainties in the
measurements and in the chemical mechanisms. Therefore, we would
not expect this
error to significantly influence any quantitative conclusions either.
The original fit for H2O, which was reported in the
same form, had a lesser problem (few percent at 2500K), and new
fit is
also available for aP,H2O. Thanks to Qing Tang (Cornell)
for pointing out the problem with the original curve fits and
for
double checking the new curve fits.
April 28, 2000 Flame D Velocity Profile Scaling:
Documentation file for piloted flame D was updated to correct an
error in the x/d scaling of the tabulated axial velocity profile.
Original documentation file had x-distance scaled by 7.72 mm rather
than the correct nozzle diameter of 7.2 mm. E-mail notification
was sent out in March 1999.
