Advanced Internal Combustion Engines – Conventional Configuration
  • Transition strategy to promote the H2 infrastructure
    • Pave the way for Fuel Cell Vehicles

  • Optimize a production ICE for maximum efficiency & minimum emissions
    • Demonstrated levels of NMHC = 0.0076 g/m; CO = 0.0082 g/m; CO2= 1.4 g/m; NOx = 0.74 g/mi (engine-out without a catalyst) Ford Research, SAE 2002-01-0243
    • DOE, H2 program supported research at UC Riverside CE-CERT
      • Tailpipe-out NOx was measured @ 57 ppb (dry) -- corrected for water yields ~40 ppb; ambient NOx was measured @ 50 ppb!
